Made with Greek yogurt, almond milk, fresh orange and lime juice, and plenty of ripe strawberries, this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt is a simple, healthy option for breakfast, a snack, or a light dessert.

Who wants to eat Frozen Yogurt for breakfast?! I do! I do!
I do. Nearly every morning for the past eight years when strawberries are in season. In spring and summer this is my go-to breakfast. Even in winter I’ll bundle up and enjoy a bowl — I’m clearly a little obsessed.

My obsession with this frozen yogurt recipe and eating it for breakfast.
I first made this strawberry frozen yogurt after getting an ice cream maker in 2012. I tried it for breakfast one morning and never stopped. It quickly became part of my daily routine.
When we drove across the country that May for a month on the East Coast, I even packed the ice cream maker. I wanted to make sure I could keep having frozen yogurt every morning.
I also bring along my essential kitchen tools. A reliable blender and a sturdy standing mixer make a lot of homemade recipes easier to manage.
The kitchen appliances I use most:
#1. Standing mixer. It handles heavy tasks like kneading for homemade bread, which I bake often. It makes baking manageable and consistent.
#2. High-powered blender. A strong blender yields smoother frozen yogurt and creamier textures for purees, soups, and smoothies.
#3. Ice cream maker. It churns the mixture to create the right consistency. I use mine for frozen yogurt and for occasional ice cream flavors throughout the year.
Smaller machines such as single-serve ice cream tools can also produce excellent results for this recipe.

Back to frozen yogurt — a few notes about the ingredients:
This frozen yogurt is excellent any time of day: breakfast, an afternoon treat, or a light dessert. While strawberries with orange and lime is my favorite combination, you can adapt the recipe to other fruits. The key is combining whole fruit with some fruit juice for brightness.
Fresh-squeezed juice is preferable. Bottled juice works in a pinch, but fresh juice adds brightness and balance and takes only a few minutes to prepare. A simple hand juicer or reamer is all you need for lime and orange.
Use full-fat Greek yogurt if you can:
- Full-fat yogurt keeps you satisfied longer, which is helpful if you’re eating this for breakfast and need it to hold you until lunch.
- Full-fat also makes the frozen yogurt creamier, though reduced-fat yogurt will still work.
I often use unsweetened almond milk in this recipe. It’s a lighter option that blends well without changing the flavor, and it’s suitable for those who are lactose intolerant. Regular milk can be substituted if preferred.

Made with Greek yogurt, almond milk, orange and lime juice, and plenty of fresh strawberries, this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt is a healthy, refreshing option for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain unsweetened Greek yogurt
- ½ cup plain unsweetened almond milk
- ½ cup fresh-squeezed lime juice
- ½ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice
- ½ cup sweetener of choice (Stevia, sugar, or honey as preferred)
- ¼ cup honey (if additional sweetness is desired)
- 1½ cups fresh strawberries, stems removed (about 12 oz)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender. Cover and blend on medium-high speed until the fruit is fully processed and the mixture is smooth, about 1 minute.
- Pour the mixture into a 2-quart ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Note: Because this recipe uses a high proportion of fruit, the finished frozen yogurt can become quite firm if stored in the freezer. It’s best enjoyed immediately, straight from the ice cream maker.
