How to make custom Halloween treat bags with the Cricut Maker. Ideas include glitter iron-on, adhesive vinyl and faux leather projects that are simple and fun.

Halloween craft ideas using the Cricut Maker
With Halloween approaching, it’s the perfect time to personalize treat bags for parties, trick-or-treating, or gifting. Vinyl is a versatile craft material that can transform a plain tote or paper bag into a themed keepsake. Below are several approachable projects you can make with a Cricut Maker, including a double-sided glitter iron-on tote, a faux suede mask, and decorated paper treat bags. These projects are great for crafters of all levels and use basic tools like the EasyPress and adhesive or heat-transfer vinyl.
DIY Glitter Iron-On Halloween Treat Bags
Materials:
- Cricut Maker
- Canvas tote bag
- Glitter iron-on in orange and white
- EasyPress 2 (6×7 size recommended)
For a double-sided tote, choose two designs in Cricut Design Space. The example used here applies a flourish “BOO!” on one side and a “Hocus Pocus” design on the other. Adjust each design to fit your tote, then place glitter iron-on shiny side down on the mat. Remember to mirror the image before cutting and select the glitter iron-on material setting. After cutting, weed away any excess vinyl.
- Warm your EasyPress to the recommended temperature for your tote fabric and place an EasyPress mat or a thick towel beneath the bag to protect your workspace.
- Press the bag briefly for about 5 seconds to remove wrinkles and warm the fabric so the vinyl adheres evenly.
- Center the design on the bag, cover if necessary with a protective sheet, and press for about 30 seconds using firm, even pressure.
- Set the EasyPress aside and allow the design to cool slightly, then peel the carrier sheet starting at a corner to ensure the vinyl has adhered. If any areas lift, reapply heat for a few seconds.
- Repeat the process on the reverse side with your second design to complete the double-sided tote.

The Cricut Maker can cut a wide range of materials beyond vinyl — from wood and felt to leather — opening up lots of creative possibilities. For thicker materials like balsa wood or tool leather, use the Knife Blade, which is designed to handle dense, rigid materials safely and accurately.
DIY Halloween Mask
Make a lightweight spiderweb mask from faux suede for a quick costume or party accessory.
Materials:
- Black faux suede
- Elastic string
- Hot glue
Tutorial:
- Choose a spiderweb mask design in Cricut Design Space and resize it to fit — about 9 inches wide works well for adults.
- Cut the faux suede using the recommended material setting for a clean edge.
- Attach elastic to the inside edges of the mask with a small dot of hot glue on each side.
- Try it on and adjust the elastic length for comfort. This mask is an easy, lightweight option for last-minute costumes.

I also experimented with party foil to create custom confetti shapes. It’s a fun material to explore for themed decorations, and you can cut small shapes to match any Halloween motif for table scatter or inside treat bags.

Paper Halloween Treat Bags
A classic and budget-friendly option is to decorate small paper treat bags with adhesive vinyl. These are perfect for handing out on Halloween or for filling with small seasonal surprises throughout October.
Materials:
- Small paper treat bags
- Adhesive vinyl
- Transfer tape
Tutorial:
- Select simple designs in Cricut Design Space and size them to fit the front of your bags (about 4 inches wide works well).
- Cut the designs using the vinyl setting, weed away excess material, and apply transfer tape.
- Position the design on the bag and transfer it smoothly, pressing firmly to ensure adhesion. Remove the transfer tape to reveal the finished decoration.
- Fill the bags with candy, small toys, stickers, or seasonal treats for a fun surprise.
