These keto true Carnivore waffles are a fun change when you want something different. The same batter can also be baked into a loaf of carnivore bread.

Keto Carnivore Waffles
I’m in the middle of a 30-day Carnivore challenge and wanted a way to enjoy meat that didn’t look or taste like a typical meat dish. These carnivore waffles solved that problem — they’re meat-based but surprisingly versatile.
I first encountered a carnivore bread recipe in a Facebook group and immediately thought it would work well as waffle batter. After testing and tweaking, this version is what I settled on.
What are Keto Carnivore Waffles made of?
They’re primarily made of meat and eggs. You’ll need:
- ground chicken or turkey (or small pieces of skinless chicken breast)
- ground beef
- eggs
- parmesan or grated mozzarella cheese
- a blender
- a waffle maker (I used a full-size waffle maker)
Despite the straightforward ingredient list, the finished waffles don’t just taste like meat — the texture and flavor are neutral enough to use in sweet or savory ways depending on your preferences.
The original recipe suggested a starch-free baking powder. I tested the batter with and without baking powder and found no noticeable difference for waffles. However, baking powder is important if you plan to bake the mixture as a loaf of bread; it helps the loaf rise and prevents a dense, eggy result.

Do Keto Carnivore Waffles taste like traditional waffles?
If you expect a crisp exterior with a light, fluffy interior like a typical waffle, these won’t match that exactly. They have a different texture, but they are tasty in their own right.
The first time I tried them I served butter and sugar-free syrup — they made a surprisingly good waffle substitute for someone on carnivore, though some strict carnivores avoid sugar-free syrups. The next day I embraced the meaty nature of the waffles and paired them with a savory dip, which was excellent as well. (The savory dip photo is shown below.)

Another great pairing for these waffles is a classic beef liver pâté — a rich, flavorful match that keeps the meal within carnivore-style ingredients.
Tips and Notes for Best Results
- Blend the batter until as smooth as possible for the best texture.
- The same batter can be used to make a loaf of carnivore bread or muffins. If making a loaf, add a non-starch baking powder to help it rise.
- Both waffles and sliced bread toast well and hold up nicely as a base for toppings.
- You can make smaller “chaffles” using a mini waffle maker; this recipe yields at least 10 chaffles.
- Sliced carnivore bread makes an excellent grilled cheese (if you include cheese in your carnivore plan).
- Carnivore waffles are also good cold as a snack, especially with the French onion bacon dip or other savory spreads.
- Do not skip simmering the meat in water for a few minutes — it helps ensure the batter blends smoothly and prevents excess grease in the waffle maker.
- If making the bread loaf, allow the cooked meat to cool completely before blending — ideally refrigerate overnight or for several hours.

These keto carnivore waffles are surprisingly neutral in flavor and work well as a savory or slightly sweet option for lunches, snacks, or breakfast. Recipe updated after additional testing.
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 8 oz ground chicken or turkey (or skinless chicken breast cut into small pieces)
- 8 oz ground beef
- 4 tbsp dry parmesan cheese or 1 cup grated mozzarella
- 2 1/2 tbsp baking powder (optional for waffles; recommended for bread loaf)
Instructions
- Simmer the meats in 2–3 cups of water for 10 minutes. Drain in a colander and allow the meat to cool completely.
- Preheat your waffle maker while the meat cools.
- In a blender, combine eggs and parmesan (or mozzarella) and blend briefly.
- Add the cooled cooked chicken and beef to the blender.
- Blend until the mixture is very smooth.
- Pour about half the batter into a full-size waffle maker, close the lid, and cook until steam subsides (about 5–7 minutes).
- Remove waffles and allow to cool on a rack. Repeat with the remaining batter.
Notes
To make carnivore chaffles, pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter into a mini waffle maker — you should get 10 or more chaffles from this recipe. To make a loaf, preheat the oven to 400°F and pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 40–50 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
