We celebrated the end of summer with a giant s’mores board to share with friends. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing dessert that’s great for gatherings around a fire pit.

Traditional s’mores—graham crackers, roasted marshmallow, and a square of Hershey’s chocolate—are classic and delicious, but I enjoy getting a little extra creative. A big s’mores board lets everyone mix and match flavors and textures to build their perfect treat.

When Janette and I go camping, we always bring non-traditional s’more ingredients (remember the golden raspberry s’moreo?). A s’mores board like this collects lots of options in one place so everyone can experiment.

The beauty of a s’mores board is how customizable it is. I arranged the ingredients I like, but you can swap in whatever you prefer. Try different cookies, chocolates, and toppings, and see what combinations your friends invent—then add the best ones to your next board.

S’mores without Graham Crackers

I always include graham crackers for anyone who prefers a classic s’more, but you can build delicious s’mores without them. Here are some great alternatives:

  • Oreos
  • Pizzelle
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Mini Waffles
  • Cinnamon Raisin Toast
  • Rice Krispies treats

Chocolate options

The chocolate you choose turns a good s’more into a great one. Match your chocolate to the toppings you plan to use. Here are favorites to include on the board:

  • Milk Chocolate Hershey’s Bars
  • Cookies & Cream Bars
  • White Chocolate Bars
  • Reese’s Cups
  • Caramel-filled Ghirardelli
  • Raspberry-filled Ghirardelli
  • Nutella
S'mores board marshmallows and toppings like fresh fruit, caramel, and peanut butter.

Toppings

Now for the fun part: toppings. It’s easy to get carried away, but a few standout options make the board exciting and varied.

  • Caramel sauce
  • Peanut butter
  • Nutella
  • Fresh fruit (bananas, berries, peaches)
  • Shredded coconut
  • Candied bacon
