If you haven’t tried golden milk (also called a turmeric latte), it’s warm milk infused with turmeric and spices like cinnamon and a pinch of black pepper. The flavor is distinctive—earthy and warming—and makes a lovely, calming drink before bed.

This version adds cocoa for a gentle chocolate twist. It’s not a full-on hot chocolate with a hint of turmeric; it’s golden milk with chocolate notes, which makes it an approachable choice if you’re new to turmeric lattes. And it’s a fun variation if you already love classic golden milk—chocolate simply changes the mood.

Top it with whipped coconut cream for an indulgent finish. The coconut cream adds richness and pairs especially well with the chocolate and spice.

Tips & Tricks For This Chocolate Golden Milk

  1. Adjust the sweetener to your taste. Use the full amount for a more indulgent drink, or reduce to one tablespoon of maple syrup for a lighter version. If you’re new to turmeric lattes, start with the suggested sweetness and reduce later if desired.
  2. Spices can settle as the drink cools, so stir occasionally if you sip slowly to keep it evenly mixed.
  3. Enjoy this after dinner or before bed for a soothing, caffeine-free option. It also works well as an afternoon pick-me-up when you want to avoid coffee or caffeinated tea.
  4. To make plain golden milk instead of the chocolate version, simply omit the cocoa powder and follow the same method.
